Episode 39: The Bodhi Tree

There’s more than one December holiday that centers around a tree! Bodhi Day celebrates that day when Siddhartha Gautama sat under a Bodhi Tree, achieved Enlightenment, and became the Buddha. Find out how this tree helped start a new religion and how you can celebrate this holiday in the modern-day. Music is by Acadamy Garden. Cover art is by @boomerangbrit on Instagram. 1. Thanks, Thomas … quite detailed. Enjoyed it very much. I grew up in Miami with lots of Banyan Trees, and maybe some of them were Bodhi trees.? I guess I’ll have to check for elliptical leaves or heart-shaped leaves on my next visit to south Florida! By the way, we pronounced “Banyan” as “ban-yen”, and you pronounced it as “bon-yen”. Where did you get your pronunciation? Time to go sit under a tree at ORPI (if I can find one without spikes) and meditate … 🙂
